Whangarei Cat Boarding

9 July 2011

Dear Rachael,

I’m just writing to say thank you for all the care you have given to my cats over the last few years. I have never worried when they have been left with you.

As one of my cats, Max, is a highly dependant diabetic, who needs insulin injections twice a day and close monitoring, it isn’t easy for me to go away and leave him behind. As a vet nurse I am very particular about the care my cats get and Max can be difficult to manage at times due to his various health problems. My partner, a local vet in town and I don’t go away often for this reason however it is reassuring to know that you give him the best care possible when we do.

I have no problems recommending you and Deloraine to people who ask me to recommend a cattery to them. I know that you give them the best possible care and attention and that they are in safe and capable hands when staying with you.

Best Wishes

Cattery Whangarei – Deloraine Cattery

As we all know our cuddly furry friends have evolved from hunters, so we can understand their sense of sight is one of their strongest, and designed so they can see in the dimmest of light. Tests have shown cats appear to distinguish light spectrums rather than colors.

The Retina – the nerve center at the back of the eye – contains cells called cones ( these are responsible for converting light into color) and Rods (rods are responsible for black and white) and in cats the Rods outnumber the cones.

So Can Cats see colors… Not in the same why we do, we have more cone cells in our Retina, which allow us to see colors. Cats have more Rods cells in their Retina, so if they could see any color at all it would more likely be bark colors such as Blues, greens and purples but bright colors would appear dual, less intense or vibrant.

Hope the staff put more wood on soon!

Hope the staff put more wood on soon!

Us house cats now have it pretty darn easy…… staff to feed us, staff to make our beds and NOW…. a fire place with real fire! We can snooze of the sofa and enjoy the warmth of the fire. Guess what – the staff keep it burning all evening for us too!
Life is good as a House cat at Deloraine.

Firstly lets talk to the House leader, Mr B.

Gidday… They call me Mr B. B is for boss so don’t forget it. I am the house leader over the other 3 and I demand food and treats from the staff on a regular basis.

The thing is about being the Boss is that it also makes me the “defender” – I hate Rufus who lives next door, he thinks he owns the neighbourhood – He comes over here and sniffs around our garden but I give him what for and send him packing.

Some call me lazy but I just like to chill out more than others might!
